Mold Remediation

MOLD-IMAGE1Mold spores are present both indoors and outdoors, but when they land on a moist surface they can begin to grow. Molds perform an essential role in nature by breaking down dead organic matter; however, mold growth indoors must be avoided. Mold eats away at organic materials, such as; paper, drywall, wood, and some carpets, so when left untreated, it can lead to severe damage. Exposure to mold can cause a variety of health effects and symptoms.

As a general rule, simply killing the mold for example, with biocide, is not enough. Even dead mold can be hazardous. The purpose of remediation is to correct the moisture problem, and to eliminate decayed, infected, and contaminated materials to avoid exposure and additional damage to building materials, furnishings, and equipment. The specific method or group of methods used will depend on the type of material affected. Flood-X efficiently performs mold testing, and has a wide array of clean-up methods for remediation damage to buildings, materials and furnishings. In addition, all of Flood-X’s technicians are both Certified Mold Inspector (C.M.I.) and Certified Mold Remediation Contractor (C.M.R.C.) certified, providing knowledgeable technicians with a professional service.

When to test for mold ?

1.You have visible mold growing on your structure and/or contents.

Usually this situation will not require testing other than to determine if any adjacent area is affected by cross contamination.

For example a basement covered in mold..is the up stairs air contaminated ?

2. You have a mold odor or smell coming from a crawl space or attic ect.
We would examine the area for mold and if no obvious causes for the odor are found we would test the air quality for elevated mold.

3. Once the remediation (cleaning of mold) is complete.

This is when air quality testing is applied, post remediation, to determine the air quality and quantity of mold after a mold remediation cleanup.

There is less concern for air quality in a garage, attic or crawl space all of which are usually open to the outside air and are not air conditioned spaces therefore air quality should be equal to the outside. Air in your “living space” is held to a higher standard.

Our certified staff will guide you throughout the mold remediation process step by step.
